What can you do for a cure?

For the Kizer family, golfing isn’t just a past time; it’s a way for the family to spend time together. So it seems fitting that they turn their favorite sport into a way to bring awareness about life with T1D, a disease that Brian (age 13) lives with every day.

“As a family, we talked about the importance of helping others and turning our passion into action to help others.” – Sherry, Brian’s Mom

That’s how “Brian’s Drive Fore a Cure” was created. A standard golf game with a unique twist – Brian would hit a special par 3 hole designated “Brian’s Drive” for each golfer and they could choose to use Brian’s drive or their own. Come day of event, the Kizer family welcomed 87 golfers, 16 hole sponsors and auctioned off 18 items raising $14,000 which is more than double what they had originally expected.

So, what can you do for a cure? Just about anything. Take Brian, for example. You can throw a party, give up your birthday, run a race, or do almost anything under the sun. Get creative, get excited. Get started today by contacting Miranda Young (312-447-7957).
