TypeOneNation Summit Set for February 23

CHICAGO, February 8, 2019 – JDRF Illinois announced its programming schedule and keynote speaker for the sixth annual TypeOneNation summit on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the McCormick Place Convention Center (2301 S. Martin Luther King Dr. Chicago, IL 60616) from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The event will feature keynote speaker Sean Busby, founder of Riding On Insulin, a professional backcountry snowboarder with type 1 diabetes (T1D) who travels the world exploring remote corners of the globe on snowboarding expeditions, and is the first person with T1D to backcountry snowboard all seven continents. Busby was diagnosed with T1D in 2004 while training for the 2010 Olympics. Today, Sean runs Riding On Insulin as the Executive Director and makes appearances at the organization’s global action sports programs (including ski/snowboard camps) for kids, teens and adults living with T1D, while managing his personal backcountry snowboarding career.

Sean is one of the many national and local T1D experts that will be leading the inspirational and educational activities at TypeOneNation. All attendees will also enjoy a full day of networking with others and access to the Wellness Area, featuring diabetes devices, resources, and other summit supporters.

Children ages 5 – 12 are invited to enjoy a fun-filled day in the TypeOneNation Kids Zone, featuring arts and crafts, special guest presentations and diabetes education activities. Kids 13+ are able to attend sessions in the teen track.
