JDRF Illinois would like to welcome new board members Dwight De Clouette, John Garcia (ABC), Kayne Grau (Uptake), Daniel Serota (Aon), Ericka Smith (Concordia University Chicago), and Staci Wood (The Well Advertising). In addition to these new board members, JDRF Illinois will also be welcoming a new board president, Laura Dunne (Evestnet, Inc.).

Chapter boards and their members provide volunteer guidance to the chapter and play a vital role in executing fundraising, leadership and advocacy activities to ensure that its efforts remain aligned with the needs of people who live with T1D.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. Over 1.6 million people are affected by T1D. It comes on suddenly, causes dependence on injected or pumped insulin for life in order to manage blood-sugar levels, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications such as kidney failure, heart attack, stroke, blindness or eye disease. JDRF is committed to advancing life-changing breakthroughs from development to the marketplace and into the hands of people with T1D.
