If you follow us on our social media, you may have seen over the spring a “Where’s Rufus?” campaign in which our JDRF family shared photos of their beloved Rufus bear. This is a special bear to many of our JDRF family members, and not just because he’s cute. He also brings hope.
Rufus is part of a Bag of Hope that children who are diagnosed with type one diabetes receive at their doctor’s office, or directly in the mail from us. It’s filled with useful resources for children and caregivers, including Rufus, the Bear with Diabetes, to show children that they are not alone in learning to take shots and test blood sugar. It also includes an intro to life with T1D, a storybook, an activity book, a resource folder, and much more.
JDRF Kentucky & Southern Indiana distributes more than 150 of these bags each year. We are proud to announce that this year, Medtronic is a supporter of our Chapter’s bags. Supporters like Medtronic make it possible to ensure every child diagnosed with T1D receives help – and hope.
Thank you, Medtronic!
