2022 HBA Artisan Home Tour Ambassadors

in

We are thrilled to announce that JDRF has been selected as the charitable partner for the 2022 Artisan Home Tour, hosted by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City. In 2020, this event raised over $54,000 to support life-changing T1D research, so we are so honored to have been selected for 2022. This event showcases some of Kansas City’s finest custom home builders and the unique and impeccable qualities of their one-of-a-kind homes. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to tour some of the amazing homes the weekends of June 3-5, 10-12 and 17-19 from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Leading up to the event, 10 ambassadors will be sharing their stories with the builders showcasing their homes to increase awareness about type 1 diabetes. Ambassadors will also attend the tours to greet guests and share more about T1D and JDRF. Meet our 2022 HBA Artisan Home Tour Ambassadors below!

Emily

First year ambassador Emily loves playing soccer, doing gymnastics, playing outside and making art. As a T1D champion for 4 years, her family has found that the technology available helps manage her T1D, but it must be attached at all times. Emily wants others to know that T1D takes constant management all the time and there is nothing to make it go away. Emily has loved the support of JDRF and the whole family is involved through volunteering!

Tinley

Tinley is a first year HBA Ambassador who loves playing with her animals and friends, in addition to playing volleyball, basketball and softball. When she’s not on the field, Tinley loves to be creative with art projects. Tinley has been part of the JDRF family for 7 years and it means everything to her and her family, who have made so many connections and friends in the T1D community. For Tinley, a cure would be the best news ever!

Jacob

Jacob has been a T1D champion for 6 years and never lets his T1D slow him down. He enjoys playing sports, being outside and swimming, he just makes sure to adjust insulin and have low snacks on hands depending on activity levels. Jacob wants other people to know that type 1 diabetes is not caused by eating too much sugar and there is currently no way to prevent this disease. Jacob loves being part of the JDRF family and has enjoyed meeting other kids living with type 1 diabetes.

Isabelle

Diagnosed just a year ago, Isabelle has jumped right in as a first year HBA Artisan Home Tour Ambassador and with a One Walk team that organized a whole local color run. Isabelle enjoys playing sports, especially volleyball. When sheā€™s on the court, she makes sure to have plenty of low snacks and adjust her insulin to make sure her blood sugars stay in a safe range. Isabelle looks forward to sharing her T1D story as an ambassador and helping other kids with their own diagnosis.

Aubrey

T1D Champion Aubrey loves cheer and uses it to balance the mental stress that can come with type 1 diabetes. As a T1D champion for 9 years, Aubrey has supported JDRF through her One Walk team, volunteering at events and as an HBA Artisan Home Tour Ambassador. Aubrey wants others to know that there is nothing you can do to cause or prevent type 1 diabetes. For Aubrey, a cure would mean complete freedom.

William

With a recent diagnosis in September 2021, William has liked getting to know more people in the JDRF community who understand life with T1D. For William, he wants other people to know that managing T1D is more difficult than it may seem, and he looks forward to cures. For fun, William enjoys playing video games, making art and building things.

Ā Claire

First year ambassador Claire loves to make art, sing, play piano and play with her brother. Sometimes when Claireā€™s blood sugars are too high or low, she has to sit out from some of her favorite activities, like soccer at recess, which can be frustrating. Diagnosed in 2020, Claire look forward to meeting for T1D families in person. A cure for Claire would make her so happy and thankful!

Audrey

Audrey is a returning HBA Artisan Home Tour Ambassador who loves being outdoors, spending time with her friends, swimming and reading. For Audrey, being part of the JDRF family means connecting with other people living with type 1 diabetes and feeling less lonely. As a T1D Champion for 13 years, a cure for Audrey would mean a life where she can freely enjoy a regular day.

Kellen

Kellen is a returning ambassador who has been actively involved with JDRF for the past 11 years through One Walk, Dream Gala, JDRF Ride to Cure and the HBA Artisan Home Tours. He has loved the opportunity to meet other kids living with T1D who also wear insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors (CGMs). While sometimes balancing sports and blood sugars can be tricky, Kellen loves flag football, swimming and soccer.

Lynox

For T1D champion Lynox, JDRF has felt like a second family for the past 6 years. Lynox wants other people to know that having type 1 diabetes doesnā€™t change who she is, she just has to take certain precautions sometimes or plan ahead. In her free time, Lynox dances competitively with her school dance team. A cure for Lynox would mean no more worries, no more devices attached to her, no more sitting out of activities, no more caring around medical supplies and no more nights of interrupted sleep.

Bana

Bana is a first year HBA Ambassador and is thrilled to share her T1D story. Bana has been a T1D champion for only a few months and has jumped right in to the JDRF family. For Bana’s family, JDRF has helped them understand T1D and feel confident in managing it.
