Notes from your ED

These are unique and stressed-filled times for all of us.  I want to let you know that JDRF nationally, regionally and locally is responding quickly to the ever-changing environment.   With the aim of ensuring the well-being of our Type 1 Diabetes community, supporters and local residents, JDRF is postponing all in-person events through June 30. This includes all meetings and activities that cannot be converted into virtual events.

This does not mean that we are not working every day!  Our staff is working primarily from home, but Joe Salvagne and I are ensuring that there is some coverage in the office throughout the week and taking turns being in the office.  Do not hesitate to call or email any staff person any time.

Critically important information from our national office is that the T1D medical supply chain has not been impacted.  JDRF has been, and will remain, in close contact with the leading manufacturers of insulin and T1D supplies. Each leading manufacturer has communicated to us that COVID-19 is not having an impact on their current manufacturing and distribution capabilities. We will continue to monitor the situation and update the T1D community should anything change.

Finally, I want to share a word from JDRF President, Aaron Kowalski, regarding COVID-19 and our life and work together:

Nothing is more important to us than your safety. We are continually updating the T1D community through our website,, sharing information on how to stay safe, and how to best manage T1D if you do develop this or any other serious virus.

As we move forward together during this challenging time, I believe we will emerge as a stronger community — and will be closer than ever to achieving our mission to create a world without T1D.

Please go to for regular updates and information regarding T1D and  COVID-19.  Together, we will get through this difficult time and be stronger.
