March 16, 2017 – The Future of T1D presented by Dr. Kristin Castorino
Dr. Kristin Castorino is dedicated to improving the lives of women with diabetes, especially during the childbearing years. Her professional passion is to create simple and efficient access to evidence-based guidelines for diabetes care during pregnancy. Dr. Castorino has been an instrumental part of many programs at the William Sansum Diabetes Center including the Diabetes and Pregnancy Artificial Pancreas programs.

May 18, 2017 – Resilience in Family Dynamics while living with T1D presented by Tamara Afifi, PhD
Tamara Afifi is a professor at UCSB and is passionate about helping families communicate effectively while managing T1D. She has conducted hundreds of research groups dealing with T1D, and takes an interactive approach to her presentation. Tamara has volunteered at diabetes camps and run workshops with parents on stress management and communication.

March 1, 2017 – Type 1 Diabetes Management Tools presented by Dr. Ashley Thorsell
Dr. Ashley Thorsell is board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-eligible in Endocrinology. She is the first Endocrinologist to join FCPP (First Choice Physician Partners) in San Luis Obispo, providing services in the fields of diabetes, thyroid disorders, thyroid cancer, bone disease and osteoporosis, adrenal gland disorders, pituitary gland abnormalities, calcium and vitamin D metabolism, testosterone deficiency, and obesity/weight loss. She has lived with type 1 diabetes for 15 years.
