Interested in Mentoring Newly Diagnosed Families?

If you or your child has been diagnosed more than a year ago and want to help newly diagnosed families, we are currently recruiting for our next phase of training.
We need people to represent JDRF by becoming Outreach Volunteers in our T1D Connections Program We are also in great need of Spanish speaking volunteers and families from Long Beach and Antelope Valley.

We will be having a training on October 4th, either in person at our offices 811 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1600, Los Angeles, 90017 or by WebEx, at 7:00PM.

The program pairs newly diagnosed individuals and families with Outreach Volunteers who teach, support, and connect to the JDRF community.

As an Outreach Volunteer you will be responsible for:

  • Speaking with newly diagnosed families on a monthly basis communicating with that family for 1 year.
  • Logging your correspondence with each familyĀ on an online tracking tool.Ā No more than 5 families per volunteer for tracking.
  • Attending JDRF events including Walk and TypeOneNation if schedules permit.
  • Attend Outreach Volunteer Training either in person or via WebEx.
