Applications for JDRF 2019 Children’s Congress are now being accepted! JDRF’s highest profile advocacy event is JDRF Children’s Congress, held every two years in the nation’s capital. This year’s event will be held from July 8 – 10, 2019 and will include more than 160 children from across the nation and around the world who will travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with Members of Congress and participate in activities to educate the public about T1D.
As participants in JDRF 2019 Children’s Congress, Delegates (each accompanied by a guardian) will have a unique and empowering opportunity to help our nation’s lawmakers understand what life with T1D is like. They will tell them why research will one day help create a world without T1D and the role the Federal Government plays in achieving that vision. Delegates will help educate Federal lawmakers and their staff on the significance of continued research funding, regulatory efforts to approve novel therapies, and the importance of affordability, choice, and coverage in terms of diabetes management drugs and devices. In addition to making a tremendous difference in the lives of people affected by T1D, the event is extremely fun and will result in new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
We hope that families with T1D youths ages 4 to 17 will consider applying today, or sharing the application with others who might be interested. I encourage you to take the time to learn more about the event and view the bios of some of the outstanding youth who have participated in previous years by visiting the JDRF 2019 Children’s Congress website.
