Stories from National Diabetes Awareness Month

in ,

The JDRF community was busy in November! National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM) brought us together at the One Walk, on World Diabetes Day, and every day in between.

This community never shies away from showing the world what life with T1D is like.  This year’s #SEEMeandMyT1D Challenge gave our T1D Hero’s a platform to do just that.

Want to see more stories like these? Visit our NDAM website (that is open all year!) National Diabetes Awareness Month – 2020 – JDRF

The brothers of Alpha Phi Omega, Kappa Mu Chapter at Johns Hopkins University chose JDRF as their National Service Week charity. Check out the video below to see what they were up to!

Some of our local Mid-Atlantic Chapter T1D champions took their stories to social media as well sharing stories of life with T1D and how they commemorated NDAM. Here are a few of those posts.

From wearing blue, to dying your hair blue, there are so many ways to spread awareness of T1D during NDAM. Bringing attention to diabetes throughout the month not only helps to bring more understanding to a very misunderstood disease, but it can also help to bring in more funding for essential research and support for important legislative issues facing the T1D community.

From all of us at JDRF Mid-Atlantic, thank you to the entire T1D community for all your hard work and dedication in the fight against T1D. We are honored to celebrate the #PowerofUs during National Diabetes Awareness Month.
