JDRF Team Spotlight – Charles Jones

Welcome to the third week of the 2017 JDRF One Walk Team Spotlights – a series dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the most important aspect of the JDRF One Walk – YOU! This week, we’re doing something a little different and featuring an individual – Charles Jones!

How long have you had your team? – Since 2013; shortly after I was aware that JDRF exists.

Who are you walking for? I walk for my sister who is a Type 1 diabetic. In addition, I am touched by the babies and children that are diagnosed as Type 1 diabetics. I wasn’t aware of this fact until recent years. It is sad that they have to be stuck thousands of times until a cure is found. This doesn’t seem fair to me.

Do you have any Walk Day traditions?  I don’t really have any Walk day traditions. It is just so exciting to be part of something so great.

What is your favorite memory from your first walk?  There are several favorite Walk Day memories from the past, and it is difficult to choose one. I think that it is so unique that different Teams are so creative with creating their names. I have taken pictures of these teams/names as a keepsake. In addition, I thought that it was very cool that Miss Tennessee was at the One Walk one year.

Be sure to come back next week for our next Team Spotlight! Want your team to be in the spotlight? Fill out our survey and submit a photo to midtennessee@jdrf.org to be next!

Don’t have a Walk Team yet? Be sure to register for our Walk on September 30
