At JDRF, we know that type 1 diabetes can impact anyone, at any age, and from any race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. It doesn’t discriminate. And yet, we know locally that we have been challenged in fully representing our entire community and ensuring that our programs and initiatives are reaching all affected by T1D. We are determined to change this. It is in this spirit that we are reaching out today. We want to improve the diversity amongst our Youth Ambassador program.
We are launching the application process on May 1st, and we would like to invite youth from ages 6-17 and from all backgrounds and experience to consider applying to become a Youth Ambassador. Our Chapter Youth Ambassadors help share their stories, experiences, triumphs and trials through a variety of platforms, from events to social media to direct communications with supporters. We want to ensure that as we showcase the incredible strength and determination of any youth that is impacted by type 1 diabetes, that we are truly representing our entire community. We hope you will consider this opportunity, or encourage someone you know to consider becoming a Youth Ambassador.
As part of our dedication to improving diversity and inclusion across our chapter and organization, we want to enhance and improve how we support the type 1 diabetes community in its entirety so that all can have the best access to information and resources that will support positive outcomes. There is much to do, but we are committed to this work.
