EVENT DAY SCHEDULE

Salt Lake City One Walk

Saturday, September 22, 2018

Liberty Park (North West Corner Lawn)

Check in 8:00 am; Walk Start 9:00 am

We Walk RAIN OR SHINE!

We have a fantastic day lined up for our participants!  We know you will have a fabulous time with your teams!

8:00 am – On-site registration/donation submission begins (if you or your teammates have donations to turn in on Saturday, you should plan to arrive early).

8:30 am – On-stage program begins, including presentation of colors and national anthem, recognition of sponsors and top fundraising teams, JDRF research update, and warm up activities

9:00 am – Ribbon Cutting ceremony and Walk Start

10am-Noon – Miscellaneous Family activities (see below information about Walk Day F-U-N)!

*Please note – dogs are welcome if leashed, and owners clean up after any “messes” they make! Please NO bikes or scooters – with the high volume of foot traffic, these items may cause accidents with others.

WALK ROUTE

The main activity for the Walk will be setup on the NORTH WEST corner lawn at Liberty Park.  It shouldn’t be too hard to find us, what with all the tents and balloons!

The Walk route will begin on the central sidewalk in the park, heading SOUTH. From there, we will follow the ROLLERBLADE path (the wide sidewalk outside of the driving road) around the park, TWICE. Total estimated distance walked is 2.8 miles for both loops (1.4 miles if only one loop is completed).

Liberty Park grounds crew have asked us to inform participants to be aware of cars in the park and to NOT impede the flow of traffic on the street (stay on the rollerblade path, and watch for cars before crossing).

CHECK-IN INFORMATION

When you arrive, head to the REGISTRATION tent (XL White tent on the east side of our setup) to turn in any cash or check donations you have collected.  The Walker Collection Envelope should be completed with:

  • Your Team Name and Team Captain’s name (the correct TEAM NAME is critical for accurate post-walk accounting and data entry)
  • Amount in envelope

Please remember, it is preferred for each walker to turn in their own envelope.  If your team is funneling all donations to ONE MEMBER, please make sure THAT PERSON’S NAME is shown in the WALKER NAME field.

Even if you have pre-registered online, please complete the entire registration form on the envelope if you are turning in donations.  This will help ensure donations are credited to the appropriate party.

Also, don’t forget:

  • Checks should be made payable to JDRF
  • If you have a large amount of cash or coins to turn in on Walk Day, we ask that you convert it to a personal check and make a note in the memo section that cash has been converted to check.

Offline Unconfirmed Gifts:

Cash and check donations that have not been received by JDRF prior to Walk day will temporarily be removed from your Walk Participant Center (the Monday following Walk Day) to avoid us counting them twice. They will also no longer appear or on your thermometer.

Immediately following the Walk, we’ll begin entering all money turned in on Walk Day.

Within four weeks, the donations you submit will again appear on your fundraising thermometer as confirmed donations and count towards Fundraising Rewards, if you opted into the program.

FUNDRAISING DETAILS

Remember – Walk Day is NOT the finish line.  It is simply a one-day celebration of a 365-day fundraising effort.  PLEASE continue fundraising after the Walk.  Funds received through November 30th will be credited to your final individual and team totals and applied to any incentive catalog you receive. Incentive catalogs will be sent to those who earned them 8-10 weeks post-Walk.

Donor Receipts:

Donors who have written a check to JDRF for $250+ will receive a letter of receipt directly from JDRF.

If you need a receipt for a check you are turning in on Walk Day, you will need to include a Walker Donation Information Form (available to download on your participant center under the “Tips and Tools” tab) with your envelope and indicate the donors who wish to receive a receipt.  You can download this form from your participant center.

PARKING

Parking is first come, first served in the round at Liberty Park, with additional street parking available in adjacent neighborhoods.  Carpooling is encouraged, as parking is somewhat limited.  Please park legally, as JDRF cannot be held liable for fees/tickets incurred from illegal parking.
