The Green Center at Colorado School of Mines is located at 924 16th St in Golden, CO 80401.

Parking on campus at Colorado School of Mines is free on weekends. The closest public lot to the Green Center is Lot O, located at the corner of 15th St and Arapahoe St. Please refer to this brochure to plan for parking.

If utilizing street parking, please make sure to follow all posted signs.

The main entrance to the Green Center is on the west side of the building (facing the mountains).

About This Event

Colorado individuals and families living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) are invited to a free TypeOneNation Summit, hosted by the JDRF Mountain West Chapter!

Join us the morning of Saturday, March 25, for an opportunity to learn more about who JDRF is and how we serve the greater T1D community. Local experts and leaders in the T1D community will be hosting breakout sessions focusing on different topics affecting all ages and stages of T1D. Breakout session topics will include school, mental health and exercise, all from the lens of life with T1D.

Light breakfast options will be available.

KIDS CAMP & TEEN TIME

Youth and teen programming is back in 2023! Children and teens are welcome to join Kids Camp or Teen Time, while parents and caregivers sit in on breakout sessions.

Kids Camp is for youth in grades kindergarten through 7th. Programming is scheduled from 9:00am-11:00am.

Teen Time is for teens in grades 8th through 12th. Programming is scheduled from 9:00am-11:00am.

Please note: Parents and caregivers interested in this programming must reserve the correct amount of applicable tickets upon registering.

Attendees can begin checking in at 8:00am.

8:30am-9:00am | Welcome & Keynote

Make sure you’re seated in the main hall to hear a special welcome message from JDRF.

Our opening keynote will be presented by Nikki Farnsworth, Ph.D., an Assistant Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC).

9:00am-9:10am | TRANSITION

Make your way to your first chosen breakout session.

Parents and caregivers with children participating in Kids Camp or Teen Time will check in during this time.

9:10am-9:50am | Breakout Session #1 (choose 1)

  1. You’re Taking Care of Them; Are You Taking Care of You?, presented by Jenna Eisenberg, LMFT, Denver Diabetes Counseling
  2. Living & Thriving with T1D: The Female Perspective, presented by Zehra Haider, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the BDC Adult Clinic

9:50am-10:10am | TRANSITION

Take a bathroom break or visit the vendor fair before making your way to your second chosen breakout session.

10:10am-10:50am | Breakout Session #2 (choose 1)

  1. Taking Diabetes to School, presented by Andrea Houk, RN, CDCES, Executive Director of Diabetes Resource Nurses of Colorado, Inc.
  2. Learning & Communicating Your Workplace T1D Rights, presented by Luis Ambroggio, JD, General Manager of Contracts and Compliance for International SOS Government Services

10:50am-11:00am | TRANSITION

Make your way back to the main hall for closing.

Parents and caregivers with children at Kids Camp or Teen Time are required to check them out at this time.

11:00am-11:20am | Closing Keynote & Closing Remarks

Make sure to be back in your seats in the main hall to hear our closing keynote, continued by Dr. Farnsworth.

11:20am-11:30am | Wrap-up
