Everyday Heroes – Meghan Mullen

in ,

2018 National Volunteer Week is here! We are grateful to have devoted volunteers who work year round to turn Type One into Type None. We would like to feature our local #EverydayHeroes throughout this week and beyond. It’s an honor to recognize individuals, families and businesses that go above and beyond to serve our local T1D community. Today we are featuring Meghan Mullen.

Since Meghan’s daughter, Madeline, was diagnosed with T1D she has been a part of the JDRF family, reaching out to newly diagnosed families through our T1D Connections Program, coaching Family Walk Teams, and hosting support nights for parents of children with T1D. This year, her own family Walk Team – which includes the Scott and Hunt families – will be inducted into the JDRF One Walk Hall of Fame, raising over $100,000 for T1D research!

We are thrilled to have Meghan serve as the Walk Family Team Chair; sharing her love for the Walk and dedication to finding a cure with the Family Team Coaches. She and her fellow coaches will offer support and inspiration to Walk teams newly diagnosed with T1D and those who are joining us for the first time.

“Meghan’s commitment to the mission of JDRF is inspirational. Her passion has led her to take on a leadership role serving as the 2018 Walk Family Team Chair. I am so grateful to have Meghan as a friend and colleague. As a mother of children with type 1 myself, I feel indebted to her and the work she is doing to help find a cure for all of our kids,” said Chris Dunn, JDRF Development Manager. Thank you, Meghan!
