One Walk Saratoga is almost here and we are thrilled you’ll be with us. Below is important information about what to expect on Saturday.

DIRECTIONS & PARKING– Saratoga Race Course is located at 267 Union Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Please enter through Gate B/Main Auto Gate on the corner of East Ave and Union Ave. You may park in the trackside parking lot off of Union Ave by Gate B. There will be signs directing you.

CHECK-IN INFORMATION– Registration opens at 9:30am. When you arrive please see one of our volunteers in a blue JDRF t-shirt for an envelope. All walkers must complete and sign an envelope before heading to the check-in table. If you have any donations to turn in on Saturday you may put them in the envelope. Checks can be made out to JDRF. If you have done all your fundraising online and will not be turning in any money, you must still fill out an envelope.

FOOD, FUN & ENTERTAINMENT– Prior to the walk we will have a DJ, bounce slide and much more. We will have coffee and bagels courtesy of Dunkin Donuts, fruit from Sysco Foods, and Saratoga Juice Bar will be on hand with delicious juice samples. Stop by the Where Smiles Grow Hot Spot to get your picture in the photo booth, use our geofilter for your Snapchats, and tag us on Instagram with our One Walk frame. Head over to the Diabetes Marketplace to check out the latest in T1D management from Medtronic, Lilly Diabetes, OmniPod, Tandem Diabetes Care, and Dexcom. Make your way over to the Kids Zone for some Halloween crafts and games, popcorn, face painting, and balloon animals. Kids under 18 can get a Safe Child Card from the Saratoga County Sheriff Department. Burger Fi will be at the walk with a table full of coupons and giveaways. LL Bean is hosting a table with games and information. Upset, the miniature horse from Impressions of Saratoga, will be on hand for photos and friendly petting. Finally, make sure you visit the JDRF Advocacy and Information table for information and to personalize your “I’m walking for _____” bib.

V1P AREA– If you have raised over $1,000 personally or your team has raised over $3,000 you have earned admission into our V1P area! A V1P comes with some special perks including: admission into the V1P tent with reserved seating and a mac and cheese bar from Bailey’s Cafe, a commemorative V1P lanyard and customizable sign to carry: “I’m the raise _______ type.” These people have also qualified for one of our Mile of Hope signs. Look for these signs along the route.

T1D LOOKS LIKE ME– If you have T1D, make sure you pick up your T1D Looks Like Me bandana at check-in to wear on walk day. Wear it proudly because you are the reason we walk! For everyone else, let people know who you are walking for when you fill out and wear your new One Walk walker bib available at the JDRF info table. Make sure to tell all your friends and family to pick one up and show it off!

NEW FAMILIES– Is this your first time walking with us? Have you been recently diagnosed? Make sure you stop at the JDRF Information table to pick up your drawstring backpack, meet other families, and get some valuable information. If you see a new family, make sure to welcome them!

T-SHIRTS & WALKER INCENTIVES– Any walker who raises $100+ individually will earn an official One Walk t-shirt! Walkers who raise $250+ are eligible to earn prizes ranging from fashion and FitBits to tech and toys. You have until Nov 30, 2017 to collect donations. If you have qualified, a prize catalog will be emailed to you in December.

WALK ROUTE– The walk kicks off at 11am. Prior to us taking our first steps, VENT Fitness will lead us all in a brief pre-walk stretch. We are very excited to announce that we will be walking through the paddock, around the track and through the backstretch. Here is your chance to get some exclusive views of the track and walk around where the public is not normally allowed. Please note that dogs are not permitted at the Saratoga Race Course.

I would like to recognize our One Walk Corporate and Community Chairs who have led this event to success: Cindy and Brien Hollowood and their entire family, Anne and Jim O’Toole, and Mary and Rich Flaherty. I’d also like to thank the following sponsors, without whom this event would not be possible: Holiday Inn Saratoga Springs, Munter Enterprises, Saratoga Eagle, Walrath Recruiting, Saratoga Spring Water, Midland Paper, Wesley Health Care Center and The LA Group Landscape Architecture and Engineering, nfrastructure, VENT Fitness, The Adirondack Trust Company, Ayco, D.A. Collins Company, Cudney’s Cleaners, Mary Lou Whitney & John Hendrickson, Linda & Michael Toohey, Sanofi and many more! Many of them will be joining us on at the Walk so if you see them, make sure to say thanks! And a special thank you to our volunteer committee: Joyce Ure, Heidi Krueger, April Byerwalters, Caroline Putman, Patty Cirillo, and Emily Brown.

Finally, I want to say THANK YOU!! Motivated and supported by people like you, we will stop at absolutely nothing until Type One becomes Type None. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, Oct 14th for what should be a great day!
