As we head into the holiday season, the JDRF Nevada Chapter wants to thank all of our supporters in the Northern Nevada and Southern Nevada areas for their participation this year.
We had a great TypeOneNation Summit during February in Las Vegas, bringing together diabetes experts from across the nation and families living with diabetes in Southern Nevada. This event was made possible through a local grant from the Anthem Foundation, and national sponsorship from Dexcom and Lilly Diabetes.
In April, at the 2019 Vision Gala honoring 13 stars in Northern Nevada including Amie Barnard, Maddie Barnard, Duncan Burgess, Melissa Catlett, Alli Christy, Brian Cooper, Matt Edgington, Griffin Kirsch, Hunter Pitts, Cam Rowe, Brenda Grace-Smith, Annie Zucker, and Dr. Jake Zucker, we raised more than $500,000 in Reno to support type 1 diabetes research. In May, at the 2019 Hope Gala honoring The Ellis Family – Gary, Cindy, Christina, Anamarie, and Michaela, we raised more than $1.3 million to support type 1 diabetes research. The crowd participated in a silent auction and live auction, bidding on items including the UFC Ultimate VIP Experience, which sold for an impressive $51,000 and the 186th Oktoberfest Celebration in Germany which sold for $27,000. Guests also bid on the Ultimate Vegas Golden Knights Fan Collection which included a ride on a Zamboni during the intermission of a Vegas Golden Knights game during this season, donated by the Law Office of Adam S. Kutner. Read more about the event at this link.
In September, we gathered together at the University of Nevada, Reno to enjoy the JDRF One Walk. So far the walk has raised over $151,500 towards our goal of $177,300.
October brought the return of Cork & Soul at Tivoli Village in Las Vegas. The event was a great night of entertainment, wine, food, and shopping all supporting type 1 diabetes research. The festival included multiple music performers, food and wine tastings, and a raffle featuring items from local retailers. VIP packages included a catered dinner from Echo & Rig Butcher and Steakhouse. The event raised over $106,000 to support the JDRF One Walk in Southern Nevada.
In November, the Southern Nevada diabetes community celebrated our fundraising efforts together at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and enjoyed the JDRF One Walk. So far the walk has raised over $425,000 towards our goal of $500,500. Stay tuned for retail and sneaker sale campaigns this spring to help us reach our final goal.
