November Cure Champion

In 2005, Ruth Treitman’s granddaughter was diagnosed with T1D.  Since then, she has donated the proceeds from the sale of her jewelry to JDRF, her charity of choice.  Recently, she surpassed a huge milestone: donating $75,000 to JDRF!

Ruth started making jewelry when she joined a silver smithing class about 20 years ago, at a friend’s suggestion—she always liked handcrafting.  Borrowing a technique from the ancient Middle East, Ruth Treitman weaves gold and silver wire loops together to create intricate jewelry pieces, including necklaces, bracelets, pendants and earrings.

You can purchase her jewelry at Clever Hand Gallery (http://www.cleverhandgallery.com/) in downtown Wellesley.  There is also an opportunity to meet Ruth at the “Meet the Artist, Ruth Treitman” event on Wednesday, December 2, at the Clever Hand Gallery from 3-6 p.m.
