Meet the 2019 Fox Valley Walk Youth Ambassador!

Congratulations to 17 year old Leah Herbeck from Neenah, on being chosen as the 2019 Fox Valley One Walk Youth Ambassador!

Leah was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on February 16, 2014 at the age of 12. Her family immediately got involved with JDRF volunteering and fundraising.  Leah’s team, Leah’s Minions, have participated in 4 One Walks and will be walking in Fox Valley this year for their 5th time.

Leah and her family have been creative with how they fund-raise for their team.  A few examples of what they have participated in are; Brat Fry’s, Cleaning Lambeau Field, Dairy Queen Profit Sharing, Candy Bar sales and School Fundraisers. When asked what she hopes to achieve as this year’s Walk Ambassador Leah said, “I hope to be someone who the community remembers, someone who made/makes a difference. With being older than other kids, I want to be a role model for those who are younger than me or even older than me. I want to be out there and showing the community that this disease does not define you and how you can overcome and continue to do what you would like to do.” Leah’s Minions hope to see you at the JDRF One Walk in Fox Valley on May 18th as we join together to end T1D!
