Let’s Hit the Road – Details on the 2021 JDRF Ride to Cure Season!

in ,

JDRF Ride to Cure is for all riders — beginner or experienced — who share the commitment to ride and raise funds for a world without T1D.

Registration for the 2021 Ride to Cure Diabetes is now OPEN! Join us for a season full of opportunities – from in-person group rides to pop-up challenges to an evolving calendar of events that let you chart your own course and earn rewards for your fundraising success.

No matter how you choose to ride this year, your registration is your doorway into a JDRF Ride season full of new opportunities! The 2021 calendar of events will continue to evolve depending on CDC guidelines and state/local regulations. To learn more and join the team, please head to ride.jdrf.org to register!

No matter where you live, how you choose to ride or how far you go, you’ll be surrounded by the T1D community cheering you on at every milestone.

GET STARTED TODAY:

  1. Register to join our Ride Team, the Metro Roadsters, and start your own fundraising page.
  2. Set you Goal – While there is no minimum fundraising requirement, any goal you set will get us closer to cures and treatments for T1D. Choose an amount that is meaningful to you or use our fundraising incentive levels to inspire your goal setting. Starting at just $150, you can earn exciting rewards for your fundraising.
  3. Decide your Ride. There is no limit to where you ride, how far you ride, or the creativity of your story. Check out our calendar of events to see what’s happening across the country and where others are riding this year.
  4. Meet your fellow chapter riders at our monthly trivia nights and on our Chapter Ride Team Facebook group – make sure to “like” the page to get alerts on latest Ride news!

IN-PERSON CYCLING EVENT OPPORTUNITY:

While we won’t be hosting the traditional JDRF destination events this year that you may be accustomed to, we are piggybacking off a local NJ ride to give JDRF Riders the opportunity to ride together in person at a cycling event. We are excited to partner with the organizers of Tour De Farm NJ to bring you this fun opportunity!

ABOUT TOUR DE FARM NJ:
The Tour De Farm NJ is unlike any other cycling event in NJ. This event is all about supporting our NJ Farmers and their farms and it brings you a culinary excursion into NJ farm country. If you love great food, fresh air, and beautiful countryside; this event is for you.

The day begins with a farm-fresh locally sourced breakfast to help power you through the ride. Once you hop on your bike, you will stop at farms along the route where the farmers will provide you with a “tasting” of what their farms have to offer. The farmers will be offering their products for sale. Feel free to bring a backpack and/or saddlebags and cash along with you on the ride or the farmers will have your purchased items brought back to the start/end of your tour.

A cycling ticket includes: A locally-sourced breakfast, a TDF t-shirt (for the first 250 registrants), small tastings along the cycling route, water along the cycling route, bathrooms at each farm, SAG wagon support and lunch. If you fundraise $500 or more for JDRF, you can receive a 10% off promo code to be used when you purchase your Tour De Farm entry ticket. Email Maggie for more details.

There are TWO rides and we are pushing for the majority of our riders to participate in the Warren County ride on Saturday, September 25! However, if you can’t make the Warren County ride, we will also have a presence at the Sussex County ride on Saturday, September 4.

To participate in these rides, you must purchase your ticket on the Tour De Farm website.

And, if you are interested in volunteering with us on at either of these events, email Maggie for more details!

ABOUT THE METRO ROADSTERS:
We are a group of riders with varied levels of cycling abilities. To date, we have 30+ registered riders and 3 amazing Ride Leaders who plan in-person group rides throughout the season.

This is a fun, close knit, active, and passionate group who always say they get more out of being part of the Ride program than what they put in.

Don’t be nervous. Everyone had to start somewhere and this is the most supportive group to be part of. We invite you to join us!
