JDRF Cyclists Head to Grand Rapids!

in , ,

We’re excited to be back in person at our popular JDRF Destination Rides, beginning with the first JDRF Ride of the 2022 season in Grand Rapids, MI on Saturday, June 11! Four dedicated Riders from the New Jersey Metro & Rockland County Chapter – Jeff Krietzman, Sandy Krietzman, Mark Maten, and Stephen Kowalski – will be representing Team Metro Roadsters as they log miles towards mission. The Ride begins and ends at Millennium Park, rolling through scenic farmland and small townships to beautiful Lake Michigan and back.

These four incredible team members have raised over $22,000 for cures for T1D and we are so thankful for their efforts! Be sure to follow our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) the weekend of June 10-12 and join us in thanking them and wishing them a safe, fun Ride!

Want to join us? We have five more upcoming JDRF Rides:

Can’t travel to a Destination Ride? You can still be part of the Metro Roadsters team by participating in a JDRF MyRide. Ride in your own neighborhood or at a local ride near you, all while supporting JDRF!

NEW Rider Spotlight: Nicolette Johnsen

For the first time ever, Nicolette Johnsen will be participating in a JDRF Ride – riding in honor of her sister, Angela, who was diagnosed at age 2-1/2. Their family had always participated in the JDRF One Walk with their team Angelaā€™s Angels. Five years ago, when Angela turned 16, their father Arne turned his focus to Ride and has participated in the Saratoga Springs event. That’s where Nicolette’s Ride journey will take her this year.

Nicolette took up riding at a Cycle Bar during COVID, quickly finding joy on the bike. Nicolette says she would have participated sooner, had COVID not interrupted her plans. She is very much looking forward to experiencing the Saratoga Springs Ride with her dad – and along with all the great friends he has made over the years. Nicolette says, “I’m taking part in the JDRF Ride because Iā€™m up for a physical and mental challenge that I know will be the experience of a lifetime.”

ā€œThe impact and awareness it makes inspired me,ā€ said Nicolette. ā€œIf my dad can practice 1 hour a day, I can do it.ā€ Go Nicolette! You got this! To support Nicolette, please click here.
