Fund A Cure immediately follows the Live Auction portion of the evening. Fund A Cure is an opportunity to make an impact on the lives of people living with T1D and their loved ones through a 100% tax-deductible donation, which will accelerate life-changing research. Fund A Cure donations will be invested in JDRF’s effective and focused research agenda aimed to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until there is a cure.

Todd Hobbs, MD, is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Novo Nordisk in North America, where he leads the organization’s focus on the implications of diabetes for the patient, healthcare system and healthcare professionals. He will be accepting the Honoree Award on behalf of Novo Nordisk.
Dr. Hobbs provides overall medical guidance to Novo Nordisk’s diabetes, cardiovascular, and obesity-related projects. He provides input into the clinical development and life-cycle management strategies for all approved products, as well as medical input into the R&D pipeline. He is involved with the optimization of relationships with top key opinion leaders and medical societies, and provides guidance to and participates in consultant advisory boards and key patient and professional association relationships.
Dr. Hobbs began his career at Novo Nordisk in 2004 as a field medical scientific director, then moving to the position of senior medical director, diabetes, in 2010. He led the Medical Affairs activities for all of Novo Nordisk’s current insulin products and devices, as well as supporting future insulin products through strategic and tactical activities.
He currently serves as a member of the board for the American Medical Group Association Foundation, the research foundation arm of the American Medical Group Association (AMGA).
Prior to working at Novo Nordisk, Dr. Hobbs had established a clinical practice based in Louisville, Kentucky, focusing on the intensive management of patients with diabetes of all ages, and served as chairman of the Medicine Department for a large Regional Medical Center in Kentucky. During this 10-year clinical career, he cared for more than 2,500 adults and children with diabetes, including outpatient and inpatient care, as well as intensive care.
Dr. Hobbs’ has a unique perspective on and personal dedication to the treatment of diabetes: his own experience with the disease began over 30 years ago when he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. His passion for defeating the disease intensified even more with the diagnosis of one of his sons with the same condition at the age of five.
Governor Brendan Byrne Humanitarian Awardee
Robert C. Garrett, a nationally-renowned healthcare leader and sought-after industry expert, is the co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health Network, the most comprehensive health network in New Jersey. He will be accepting the esteemed Governor Brendan Byrne Humanitarian Award at the JDRF New Jersey Metro & Rockland County Chapter One Dream Gala.
Mr. Garrett began his time with Hackensack University Medical Center in 1981 as a resident, and served as president and CEO of the Hackensack University Health Network from 2009 through 2016, at which time he assumed his current position as co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. In the face of health care reform, Mr. Garrett optimally positioned HackensackUHN and Hackensack University Medical Center for success through a series of acquisitions, mergers, partnerships and affiliations.
Mr. Garrett’s leadership and strategic vision has garnered much professional praise. He was ranked second on the NJBIZ 2016 “Power 50 Health Care” list. He was also ranked on the “NJBIZ Power 100: The most powerful people in New Jersey business” list for five consecutive years. He was selected as a member of The Wall Street Journal CEO Council, an invite-only council representing some of the most well-respected business leaders in America.
Mr. Garrett received his Master of Health Administration from Washington University in Saint Louis, and his bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University in New York. He and his wife, Laura, live in Morris Township, NJ, with their two sons, Jonathan and David.
Moorland Farm, Home of the Far Hills Race Meeting
The One Dream Gala will be held at the prestigious Moorland Farm in Far Hills, NJ — home of the premier social and sporting event for nearly a century, the Far Hills Race Meeting, also known as “The Hunt.” Moorland Farm is opening their gates to the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community in this unprecedented opportunity. Located in Somerset County, this new site will allow us room to spread out and enjoy an incredible sunset view throughout our cocktail hour and dinner program. It will be the perfect setting for this year’s record-breaking One Dream Gala, and we can’t wait to see you there!
