The JDRF Crab Feed is a popular annual fundraiser that combines gourmet cuisine and entertainment with the opportunity to support T1D research. Over the past 15 years, the event has raised nearly $1 million — and each time, we look forward to creating memories for new and returning attendees.  The incredible success of this event would not be possible without the support of long-standing volunteers like Janice Dockery.

Janice is an employee of American Health Care, one of the Crab Feed’s long time presenting sponsors.  She initially learned about the fundraiser after American Health Care CEO John Weaver invited her to the event 13 years ago.  After attending the first time, she quickly developed a personal connection to the Crab Feed and its charitable mission.

Within the American Health Care office, Janice coordinates a variety of activities to support the Crab Feed.  For example, American Health Care donates $2 to JDRF for each employee who wears jeans to work on Friday.  Janice also champions fellow employees in selling Crab Feed tickets to their friends and families.  At the event, you will find her greeting the nearly 100 guests recruited through American Health Care employees.

Eventually, Janice decided to join the Crab Feed committee in order to further contribute to JDRF’s cause. She enjoys making a difference and describes, “its truly a blessing to be a part of this committee”.   We thank Janice and American Health Care for their lasting support, and to all our Crab Feed attendees for their willingness to fund the future of Type 1 Diabetes research!
