The annual JDRF One Walk is returning to Sacramento on Sunday, October 7th! Join approximately 4,000 members of the local T1D community for an exciting day of fundraising, advocacy, and awareness. Come talk to experts, make new friends, and enjoy the sunshine — all while contributing to innovative and life-saving diabetes research.
This year’s event begins at 9:30 a.m. on the South Steps of the State Capitol; be sure to bring your friends, family, and walking shoes for a pleasant trek around the city. Before and after completing the route, feel free to visit our numerous booths and activity stations. Our kids’ area includes breakfast, bounce houses, and games — and we will kick off our autumn festivities with a pumpkin-decorating table! In addition, come meet celebrity athlete Greg Vaughn, a longtime JDRF supporter and former Major League baseball player.
The Walk will also feature a TrialNet station, where relatives of T1D patients can register to test their risk of developing the condition. This preventative screening is an important part of diabetes treatment and a vital aspect of T1D research. Also, make sure to stop by the JDRF Advocacy booth to learn how you can help build critical support ensuring elected officials are aware of the financial and emotional costs of the disease. And finally, sign up for regional events, campaigns, and fundraisers to help us extend the positive impact of cutting-edge medical research.
Your support is essential in turning Type One into Type None! We hope you will join us in walking toward a cure, surrounded by an immensely passionate and motivated community. Event-day registration begins at 8 a.m., or sign up in advance at https://www2.jdrf.org/site/TR/Walk/NorthernCAInlandChapter4052?pg=entry&fr_id=7494.
We hope to see you there!
