One Walk Registration Opens – Tuesday, March 19th

Each year, over 3,500 walkers come together from across northern California to support the Type One Diabetes (T1D) community!  Whether newly diagnosed or veteran T1D families, corporate teams wanting to support a worthwhile cause or coworkers living with T1D, or friends and families invited to support those they love, this annual event promises to be a fun and memorable morning!

This year, is an especially important one for our Chapter as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Walk.  Over the years, walkers have raised nearly $8 millon for critical research and the many advancements that have made living with T1D a little easier, and ultimately, getting us one step closer to a cure!

One family that’s found themselves at the steps of the State Capitol for the past five years is Team Swank.  Abby Swank was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was just four years old, on New Year’s Day.  Her parents recognized that something was wrong and by the time they took Abby to the Emergency Room, her blood sugar was over six hundred.  Abby is now 9 and a JDRF Youth Ambassador.  Abby describes her dream when she no longer needs to worry about blood sugar levels or utilize pumps and monitors.  This inspiration has motivated Abby, her family and their friends to raise over $40,000 in the past 5 years!

We hope that you will have a chance to join Team Swank and so many others on Sunday, October 6th.  Registration will open on Tuesday, March 19th.  To learn more or to register, visit One Walk website.  You can also call our office at (916) 920-0790.
