We invite you to join us for our 5th Annual Type One Nation Summit on Saturday, February 8th at The Officer’s Club located at McClellan Park in Sacramento. Whether it’s your first or fifth time attending, you’re guaranteed to learn something new or make a new connection!

What is a TypeOneNation Summit?
TypeOneNation Summit is a FREE, all-day educational and networking opportunity. Attendees have an opportunity to join other individuals, families, and caregivers affected by T1D and hear from experts on the latest research advancements, how to manage the physical, social and psychological impacts of T1D, and connect with other members of the T1D community. Kids Camp is available for children ages 5-12 and a special Teen Track for those ages 13-18. You can also visit vendors at our Exhibitor Fair showcasing the latest in T1D technology, local educational resources, and more!

Why Should You Attend?

Whether you’re a family dealing with a new diagnosis, or an adult who has been living with T1D for 50 years, you are assured to find value and knowledge at our TypeOneNation Summit event!

  • Learn about the latest in Type 1 Diabetes care and treatment.
  • Network with other families and people living with T1D.
  • Learn tools from experts to help ease the burden of living with T1D.

What topics will be covered at this year’s Summit?

This year’s TypeOneNation Summit welcomes speakers from Washington and Colorado states, the Bay Area and Sacramento region. Presentations cover the latest in T1D research, the emotional impact of T1D, tools for harnessing technology to help lessen the burden of living with T1D, and a special presentation on the new Northern California Center of Excellence launched in September which brings together researchers from Stanford University and the University of California San Francisco to accelerate research in the areas of the immune system, beta cells and stem-cells.

Additional workshops cover how you can better manage blood sugars while exercising, what you can do to support the advocacy efforts of JDRF, and how to best navigate T1D care for your child while they are at school. For the complete agenda, please click here.

What is the Kids Camp all about?

Kids Camp is for children ages 5-12 whose parents will be attending TypeOneNation Summit. Kids Camp programming is available throughout the day and is for both kids with and without T1D. Siblings are welcome to attend!  Special, AND FUN, activities and games will be facilitated by our Kids Camp organizers, the National Charity League of Placer County.

I am a Teen with T1D and will be attending TypeOneNation Summit for the first time. What can I expect?

For a second year, we will be offering a special Teen Track at our TypeOneNation Summit event for those teenagers ages 13-18. Facilitated by Shana Alexander, Psychologist, PsyD, this is a great opportunity to meet other teens with T1D. Topics will include: Managing T1D Socially, T1D and Sports, T1D and College. The goal of the Teen Track is to help connect teens who are living with T1D with each other, while supplying them with tools to help make life with T1D a little easier.

I am looking for other ways to connect with the T1D community. Any ideas?

Stay connected with those that you meet at the summit or expand your T1D network by joining one of our meet up groups!  Immediately, following the summit, the Type One Connect meet up group will be hosting a get together at The Officer’s Club lounge.  Friends, significant others, and family members 21+ are all welcome!
