JDRF Ride to Cure: 2020 Update

in ,

Last week, JDRF announced that it would not be able to host the traditional ride season. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic and its implication for social distancing and travel meant our local team and those around the country won’t be riding together at any of the 2020 destination ride locations.  We know this is disappointing news, but it doesn’t mean the end of ride season!

Locally, we look forward to hosting an ever bigger ride team in 2020! If you’re asking yourself how, well, we’re excited to announce that to inspire those not yet registered for the 2020 Ride to Cure season, JDRF is waiving the registration fee and fundraising minimum!  This means whether you’re passionate about cycling, looking for a new challenge, or committed to raising financial support for JDRF and type 1 diabetes, you can register today and be a part of the 2020 team!

To get connected to local team members, we also encourage you to join one (or all) of the groups below:

  • JDRF Team NorCal Ride to Cure Facebook Group is an opportunity to stay in touch with Team NorCal members. You can post about rides you have been on, talk about how you are training, and schedule times to ride with other Team NorCal members on Zwift.
  • JDRF Ride Team NorCal Strava Club – You can track your rides and training progress to share with other Team Norcal members.  Download the Strava app and then share the location, distance, elevation, power, etc. for any ride you go on (indoor or outdoor) with everyone in the club.
  • Zwift – Join Coach Steve Meece for a training ride on Zwift (a virtual application for indoor riding). Rides take place twice a month on the second Sunday at 9:00 AM and the fourth Tuesday at 6:00 PM. You can also join Team Type 1 (TT1) on Zwift and ride with a large community of riders connected to type 1 diabetes. If you are interested in learning more, please contact our Chapter office to receive additional directions on how to participate.

We hope that you will join us for the 2020 Ride to Cure season!  If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact Dawn Angelo at (916) 576-1377 or dangelo@jdrf.org.
