Vertex Provides an Update on the VX-880 Clinical Trial

VX-880 is the name of the Vertex therapy undergoing clinical testing. It uses stem cell-derived beta cells to try to restore the body’s ability to produce insulin, in combination with immunosuppressive therapy to protect the cells from rejection. Vertex published a press release with many updates on their Phase 1/2 Clinical Trial of VX-880, which has shown positive results but has been put on Clinical Hold by the FDA. Read more

NorCal Advocates Use their Voices for JDRF 2022 Government Day

It’s more than just one day! JDRF’s Government Day is held every spring, with dedicated Advocacy volunteers using the most powerful tools they have — their own personal stories — to communicate the financial, medical and emotional costs of T1D to our nation’s leaders. This year, JDRF Advocacy volunteers attended over 400 meetings with federal lawmakers across the United States to help secure Federal funding for T1D research and inform health and regulatory policy. Locally, our Advocacy volunteers coordinated 13 meetings. Read more.
