Bush, whose son Aaron was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two years ago at the age of 13, has rallied many new Walk teams

Greensboro, North Carolina, October 26, 2017 – JDRF’s Piedmont Triad Chapter announced today that Jason Bush, Director of Triad Real Estate Advisors at Keller Williams, is serving as Corporate Chair for JDRF’s 2017 Winston-Salem One Walk®.

Since earning his MBA from Wake Forest University, Jason, who is a Civil Engineer, has been involved in all aspects of the real estate industry. As Corporate Chair, he has reached out to companies and individuals who have never participated in JDRF Walks and encouraged them to get involved by sponsoring, fielding a team, or fundraising in other ways.

Until two years ago, Bush knew very little about type 1 diabetes (T1D). Then his 13-year-old son, Aaron, was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease, and everything changed. “Suddenly, my whole family was focused on beating T1D and finding a cure for Aaron and every other person dealing with this disease 24/7,” Bush said. “Serving as Corporate Walk Chair has given me the opportunity to talk about the incredible T1D research breakthroughs JDRF is funding.”

“Since the day Aaron was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Jason and his entire family have jumped in wholeheartedly to support JDRF’s vision of a world without T1D,” said Eleanor Schaffner-Mosh, Executive Director of JDRF’s Piedmont Triad Chapter. “By channeling his own personal passion, Jason has been able to rally so many new companies and individuals to our cause.”

The world’s largest T1D event, JDRF One Walk brings together more than 900,000 people at 205 Walks around the U.S. every year to raise money for T1D research. One Walk raises more than $66.5 million annually through the combined efforts of more than 20,500 family and school teams and 5,300 corporate teams.

Along with the One Walk in Winston-Salem each fall, the Piedmont Triad Chapter of JDRF hosts One Walks in Alamance and Greensboro in the fall and in High Point in the spring. Together, the four Triad events deliver more than $1 million annually for T1D research.

The JDRF Winston-Salem One Walk will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at BB&T Field, Wake Forest University’s football stadium. Check-in begins at 9 am, with the 5K Walk getting underway at 10 am.
