Greenville Superhero Supporters of April 2020: The Malone’s

in

JDRF Greater Western Carolinas would like to highlight our Greenville Superhero Supporters for the month of April: Tammy and Ron Malone (centered in picture above). Tammy and Ron’s son, Matt, was diagnosed at 9 years of age while living in Davidson, North Carolina. Matt is 36 now and has been living with type 1 diabetes for 27 years.

The Malones began their journey with JDRF in 2011 when Tammy first started volunteering with the chapter. A few years later, Tammy and Ron attended their first gala. Shortly after, they became Fund A Cure chairs for three years in a row and Tammy served as Gala Co-Chair last year.Ā Tammy has now been on the JDRF Greater Western Carolinas Board for 2 years, volunteers at the One Walk annually, and just recently completed the Outreach Volunteering Mentor Training for the Upstate area.

“Ron and I are exceptionally proud to be a part of Greenvilleā€™s active T1D community. Our upcoming gala is a visible sign of the commitment of the families and our community to support research for a cure and a chance for us to celebrate the real honorees of the eveningā€”-those who live active lives with T1D and the families who support them.”

Tammy and Ron Malone are the Honorees for our 2020 Upstate Gala, A Night Among the Stars. We were looking forward to being able to honor them on stage for all they have done for our chapter, but unfortunately due to the current events of COVID-19 we will not be able to be in-person to recognize them. However, you can still plan to watch our Upstate Gala virtually and thank Tammy and Ron for their support. We will have more details about our reimagined Upstate Gala coming soon.

We are so grateful to have such a dedicated and supportive family in our Greenville area and as a part of our chapter. A huge thank you to The Malones for all they do for our community.
