JDRF Western Carolinas One Walk

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a registration fee?

JDRF One Walks do not require a registration fee but we encourage all participants to fundraise or make a donation. In fact, the average walker raises over $400 for research to help cure T1D.

How do I register my family?

You have the option to add children under the age of 16 to your online registration. Look for the “Register My Child” button on the last step of registration. Adding your child (or children) will ensure that all event communications are sent to your email address.

All individuals that do not fall under the child registration category will need to register themselves with their own unique email addresses.

If I participated last year, how do I get my login information?

To retrieve your login information, visit this page. Under the LOG IN button, there is a “Forgot Username or Password” link that will assist you in retrieving this information.

Can I participate in JDRF One Walk if I’m not on a team?

Yes, you can choose to walk and fundraise individually. But walking with friends, family or coworkers can make the Walk more enjoyable and rally even more support for JDRF.

How can I join a team?

When you register, you can choose to join an existing team or create your own by registering as a team captain.
What is the role of team captain?

Team captains recruit other walkers and inspire them to raise money for T1D research. You serve as a leader, set your team’s fundraising goal, help your team members meet it—and have a lot of fun along the way. And JDRF provides tools, tips and other resources to help you build a successful team.

What will the Walk Celebration look like?

Our Walk Celebration will look different this year. The safety of our T1D community is our top priority and we are still working out the details for the JDRF Day on October 17th at the US National Whitewater Center. Register to be the first to hear updates as they become available.

Will there be any other Walks in western North Carolina?

We have combined our Asheville, Davidson, and Charlotte Walk efforts into one campaign that will end with the ultimate adventure….a JDRF Day at the US National Whitewater Center on October 17th. We hope that teams from across western North Carolina will join us this year!

What is Miles Towards Mission?

From your Participant Center, you can track your Miles Towards Mission in addition to your fundraising efforts. Now, you are able to set the pace, the place, the number of miles and the dollars you raise with friends, family and colleagues.

Is there a fundraising minimum?

No, but we encourage every participant to support JDRF by making a donation and fundraising. Our average walker raises over $400 to help create a world without T1D. Every dollar counts!

How are donations made?

Donations can be made via cash, check or online. All checks should be made payable to JDRF.

Do you accept employer-matching donations?

Can I fundraise after the Walk?

Yes, any funds submitted within four weeks of the Walk are included in qualifying totals for individual fundraising rewards and team awards. Any funds submitted after that are still accepted and although they won’t qualify you for rewards, they still go towards life-changing T1D research.

What kind of support will I receive?

JDRF chapter staff can assist you every step of the way with helpful fundraising resources, and any other support you may need. And your online Walk Participant Center is filled with great fundraising tools and resources to help you be successful.

What is V1P?
