March Spotlight: Professionally Pretty

When Andrew and Alison Felix wanted to give back and get involved with their local community, Alison said JDRF was a “perfect fit.” The owner of local talent agency Professionally Pretty, Alison loved that the JDRF One Walk offered them the opportunity to participate in a family friendly event with friends, family, agency talent and the community. “We loved the idea of walking with 5,000 of our closest friends. Not only can we give back, but we can connect with our community while doing so.” Alison said.

Alison and her husband Andrew have several personal connections to Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). At Morgan and Morgan, Andrew works with Zander Clem, whose young son was diagnosed with T1D two years ago. Alison’s head booking agent at Professionally Pretty, Delia Huffman, also has T1D. Watching her handle her diabetes with such grace, while knowing it is a daily struggle and realizing there are millions living like Delia, Alison said “We feel like there needs to be more done for individuals who have T1D in order to make their lives easier.”

Feeling that this was the least they could do to help, the Felix’s have given their support to both the One Walk and the Gala and have had runaway success with their fundraising efforts. Alison credits their passion, ambition and the tools provided by JDRF with their accomplishments. They take fundraising seriously, she says, but also try to have fun with it. “We post about our progress by using pictures of our piggy banks getting fuller and fuller.  One of our favorite lines yet is ‘This little Piggy went to a goal of $15K! If you haven’t donated yet, the big bad wolf will come blow your house down.’ This really caught our donors’ attention!”

On encouraging others to become more involved, Alison is passionate. “It is such a worthy cause. Read up and learn more about JDRF, they do so much and need our support. Come walk, donate, start your own team, or just educate yourself so you can educate others.”

The Central Florida Chapter is so appreciative of the hard work that Alison, Andrew and the Professionally Pretty Team have done to become one of our leading fundraising teams. Their enthusiasm and drive to help turn Type One into Type None inspires us!
