JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes – Update

in

You may have heard that due to COVID-19, JDRF will not be able to host the 2020 Ride to Cure Diabetes season as scheduled. While the lack of a “traditional JDRF Ride season” pales in comparison to the challenges COVID-19 presents to the world, this decision was not an easy one. But just because we won’t be hosting in person events this year, that doesn’t mean the 2020 Ride season is over. We are inviting you to participate in the new reimagined Ride season with no minimum fundraising requirement or registration fee. Introducing JDRF My Ride. No matter where you live, how you choose to ride or how far you go, you’ll be surrounded by the T1D community—fellow riders, coaches, friends and family, cheering you on at every milestone. JDRF My Ride lets you set your own goals and participate your own way: indoors on a trainer, outdoors on your bike, with friends or on your own. And when COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and it’s safe to do so, you can choose to ride with your local team. As part of JDRF My Ride, there will be ongoing community, fitness and fundraising challenges—where you can engage with members of the JDRF Ride community, strive to meet your fitness goals and earn rewards for your fundraising. While we are still working out some of the details, our goals for the season are supporting research through continued fundraising, supporting wellness and fitness and rallying and uniting our community. We are committed to coming together (virtually) one weekend this fall (date TBD) to celebrate what makes Ride Weekend so special—the stories, the ceremonies, the special jerseys, our top performers, our collective accomplishments and you. We can’t wait to share more soon.

We are a community familiar with challenges. So, we will tackle this challenge the same way we always do, by leaning on one another, by inspiring one another and by remembering the reason why we ride. If there is ever a community that can show the world that it’s unstoppable, it is the JDRF Ride family. And we need our JDRF Ride family now more than ever. We invite you to be part of the reimagined 2020 Ride season, help JDRF create new goose bump moments and ride together towards our ultimate finish line –a world without T1D. Stay safe, stay healthy and stay riding!
