Meet the Sklar Squad: Julie, Betsy and Steven Sklar from Englewood, CO, Liam Gaziano from Dedham, MA and Michael Knopf from New York, NY!
All will run together with Team JDRF in the 2019 TCS NYC Marathon

How Many Times Have You Run with Team JDRF?
Steven has run a 5K for JDRF in September 2013 in Denver. Betsy and Julie have participated in several JDRF One Walks in Denver, and we have participated in the Run for the Ring 5K for Childrens Diabetes Foundation in Denver multiple times and Betsy has helped organize it.
Who Do You Run For?
Steve and Betsy: “Our inspiration is our two children, Julie (23) and Neal (19), who are living with Type 1 and thriving. They have not let Type 1 hold them back from anything they have wanted to tackle. The incredible doctors and researchers they have worked with have also been an inspiration. We’ve been lucky enough to work with an amazing group of folks at The Barbara Davis Center and Julie is a research assistant there this summer while pursuing a masters in public health.”

“Given that the majority of our team lives in Colorado, we consider our state’s new governor Jared Polis to be a patron saint of sorts. Jared has demonstrated incredible leadership by taking insulin prices on and we would like to work him into our fundraising website and race T-Shirts.”
