Over 800 supporters of JDRF Seattle Guild’s 29th Annual Dream Gala came together and “Rocked the Casbah” on March 10th at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, where $2.5 million was raised for type 1 diabetes research.
We appreciate the extraordinary generosity of our many sponsors, gala patrons, donors, and volunteers who came together to help create a whole new world where we will turn Type One into Type None.
The evening began with a welcome from our Dream Gala Co-chairs: Dr. Gary & Wendy Kaplan, Greg & Stacy Lill, and Dean & Stacy Jones. Following the welcome was the presentation of our Annual Living and Giving Award to Poe Construction: Charles Poe, Wayne Williams, and Alan Peterson. Our heartfelt thanks extend to our honoree, Poe Construction, who has been supporting JDRF for over 25 years.
It was our 10th year collaborating with some of the most prestigious wineries for our Wine Host Program. We welcomed 30 Northwest Wineries to join us at the 2018 Dream Gala, and a special thanks goes out to the returning and first time wine hosts and our sommeliers!
An action-packed Live Auction followed with many exciting items, including:
- The Virginia Mason Health System Seahawks Suite for 24 sold for $60,000 twice!
- An Australian Labradoodle Puppy, Dreamy, sold for $50,000!
- The Delta Air Lines Trip for Two to Hong Kong sold for $16,000 twice!
In addition, we had more fabulous trips donated by Delta Air Lines: Morocco, Hawaii, Peru, Cabo, San Jose, and a Vacation of Your Dreams raffle prize. Thank you Delta Air Lines!
Merry, David, and Kayleigh Malnar shared an incredibly touching Fund A Cure presentation, inspiring guests to donate to help fund critical research to prevent, treat, and cure T1D. Thank you to everyone who generously donated to Fund A Cure!
To cap off the night, guests danced away to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
Since the Seattle Guild was founded, the Seattle Dream Gala has raised $72.5 million for T1D research. Thank you all for making an impact! Save the date for the JDRF 30th Anniversary Dream Gala on March 9, 2019!
