Virtual South Sound One Walk: Fun, Fundraising, and Community!

in ,

In order to safeguard the health of our community and follow our state guidelines, there was no way for us to gather together this year for the South Sound One Walk, normally held at Chambers Creek Regional Park. That didn’t stop this community from coming together and raising critical funds to end T1D! Our walk was reimagined as a virtual event, hosted mostly on Facebook. Check out the page to see all the posts and videos from the staff and community at our South Sound Facebook page.

Creativity shined as teams shared their stories through pictures and videos, held virtual raffles, sent emails, fundraised on Facebook, completed a scavenger hunt, and enjoyed socially distant walks around their neighborhoods. As a community, these South Sound heroes raised over $50,000, and they are not done yet! Fundraising is open until June 30th. Please help support this community’s amazing efforts by donating to the South Sound One Walk.

The highlight of the day was the Mile of Hope, a beautiful celebration of the amazing folks living with type 1 diabetes in our lives. Each face represents a family, a whole community fighting hard to eliminate this disease. Watch the video online here.

For anyone living with T1D and their families, challenges are nothing new, and we always rise to them. While the days and months ahead will continue to be unique and challenging, this South Sound community shows that we are truly #strongertogether!
