40th Anniversary Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes

in ,

We are so excited to be back in person this year for the 40th Anniversary Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes. On Saturday May 14th, join JDRF and thousands of T1D champions and their supporters at Husky Stadium for an excitement filled day to raise money for critical diabetes research! For 40 years, participants have come from all over the Pacific Northwest to Beat the Bridge with a vision for a world without type one diabetes (T1D)!

Sophie Stonehocker, one of our 2022 Beat the Bridge Youth Ambassadors, was diagnosed with T1D on May 14th 2017. Sophie is passionate about supporting her fellow T1D community and Beats the Bridge each year to help turn type one into type none. Aside from a few insulin doses, Sophie is just like any other 13 year old. She loves competitive swimming, hanging out with friends, reading, babysitting, and baking.

Sophie was introduced to JDRF and Beat the Bridge when she was first diagnosed in the hospital with type one diabetes. Just one year later, Sophie created her Beat the Bridge team, Stepping for Sophie! Sophieā€™s 5th ā€œDiaversaryā€ is Saturday, May 14th, the same day as Beat the Bridge this year. Stepping for Sophie is gearing up for the best Beat the Bridge year yet!

“Beat the Bridge really means a lot to me knowing that my family, friends, and even strangers are helping support people with type one diabetes.ā€

Beat the Bridge participants can choose to participate in an 8K race, 3 mile walk or a 1 Mile fun run. Event day also includes a kids zone, vendors, and even a diaper derby! If you cannot join us in person this year, we still have a virtual option, where you can Beat the Bridge in your own backyard and show your support for the T1D community.

Can we count you in? Register your team today at beatthebridge.org!
