The 28th Annual Sheraton Grand Seattle Gingerbread Village has wrapped up another successful holiday season. Thank you to Seattle’s top architecture firms who worked together with our JDRF Elves, and the Sheraton Grand Seattle’s culinary team, for displays that were out of this world! We are so glad you joined us for #BuzzingBack2022 and supported the research aimed at providing a cure for type 1 diabetes.
When/where will Gingerbread Village occur this year?
Can we volunteer?
Absolutely! We love having volunteers to help with this great event. We will have volunteer sign-ups open in the fall. Keep an eye on social media, so you can be the first to sign up!
What is type 1 diabetes?
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone people need to get energy from food. T1D strikes both children and adults at any age and suddenly. Its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Though T1D’s causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers play a role. JDRF is the leading supporter of research to find cures for T1D.
My child has type 1 diabetes. How can they be a part of this?
The JDRF Elf Application will open during the year for those with type 1 diabetes to apply. The application includes a written portion and an interview. Don’t forget to follow us on social media for updates on open applications!
