This Fall, JDRF is hosting the family event of the year, the Treasure Valley One Walk! The One Walk is a special experience for many, like Idaho’s Youth Ambassador Charlotte Swenson. Charlotte is 12 years old and was diagnosed at the age of five. “I love the JDRF Walk because it brings together so many people that support finding a cure for Type1. I make new friends and it makes me hopeful that we will get a cure soon.”, says Charlotte. Funds raised at the One Walk help advance T1D research and technology that is making an impact on the quality of Charlotte’s life. “Because of my continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump, I can sleep better, I am safer, and I am much healthier,” she says. Check out Charlotte’s video message for the Treasure Valley T1D community HERE.
Taking place on Saturday, October 14th, at Kleiner Park, in Meridian, this year’s walk is full of fun activities from face painting, pumpkin painting to Camp Hodia’s Kid Zone! Have your questions answered by representatives from Sanofi, Tandem, Dexcom, Omnipod, Medtronic. Local partners from Idaho Central Credit Union, Idaho Power, and the Diabetes Association of Idaho will also be there to support the T1D community!
Take pictures with Clyde the Camel, Princess Leia, the Mandalorian and other rebels! Learn about T1D screening or get screened at the onsite Trial Net screening booth.
This year, Charlotte and the Treasure Valley T1D community have a goal of reaching a new milestone by raising $100,000 to keep the momentum going for type one diabetes research. Visit jdrf.walk.org/treasurevalley to register your team and kick start your fundraising!
