JDRF and SCOTTeVEST Partner in Support of the Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Community

New York and Ketchum, ID, October 20, 2020—JDRF, the global leader in type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, announces a new partnership with SCOTTeVEST (SeV), a clothing brand known for multi-pocket, functional clothing for life on-the-go. The partnership will support the T1D community by raising funds and awareness, and offering unique clothing designed with accessibility in mind.

“We are excited to be partnering with SCOTTeVEST and expand our network of supporters,” said Jess Backofen, AVP Corporate Development. “The SCOTTeVEST brand is synonymous with functionality and for individuals with T1D that is a key component of everyday wear.”

T1D is a chronic, life-threatening autoimmune disease that can strike children and adults at any age. It requires rigorous 24/7 monitoring of blood glucose levels—even overnight—to avoid potentially lethal highs and lows in blood sugar, as well as other devastating complications like kidney, eye, and nerve diseases. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved. Its onset is sudden and is not related to diet or lifestyle. In T1D, the body’s immune system destroys cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, meaning the body produces little to no insulin to regulate blood sugar and get energy from food.

Initially designed for techies to discreetly carry their gadgets and devices, SeV clothing quickly caught on with travelers, as the clothing protected them from pickpockets and allowed them to breeze through airport security without emptying their pockets. For members of the T1D community, the SeV brand provides for individuals to discreetly carry their diabetes care items, including a glucose monitor, insulin pump or pen, glucagon, fast-acting carbs, and more necessary for daily maintenance of their blood sugar.

“We are excited to be raising awareness and providing the T1D community with clothing which supports their lifestyle needs.”, said Laura and Scott Jordan, SeV co-founders. “Positive feedback from customers is always validating, but it is beyond meaningful when it comes from customers who are using the products for life-saving purposes”

The idea of a partnership between the two companies was led by JDRF International Board of Director member Claudia Graham, a customer of the Idaho flagship store.

SeV will be donating a portion of all sales made through the partnership to JDRF for research to find a cure for T1D. In addition, SeV is extending discounts to the JDRF community and will have special events throughout the year to support JDRF and its mission.

About SCOTTeVEST

Laura and Scott Jordan founded SCOTTeVEST in late 2000 because they couldn’t find clothing with enough pockets to carry everything they needed.  Their goal is to create functional fashion with well-designed pockets and clever features.  The company’s revolutionary Personal Area Network® allows wearers to route cables between different pockets using flexible access points, while its Weight Management System® ensures they can carry all their gear without neck or back strain. Practical features like an eyeglass chamois and key holder combined with pockets large enough for a laptop and small enough for ear pods are hallmarks of their innovative designs that have evolved from a single vest to a full line of clothing for both men and women. Visit scottevest.com and discover why It’s Not Rocket Science.
