IMPORTANT NOTES

  • The event will be held RAIN or SHINE!
  • Who needs to go to the Registration tent? You only need to go to Registration if you: (1) have money to turn in; (2) you need to get your t-shirts (you get a shirt for every $100 that you raise); or (3) you need to register on Race Day for the Run or pick up your Runner packet (and you will go to the RUN registration tent next to Walk Registration). Registration will also be our “go to” place for lost and found and if you need to report a lost child.
  • Dogs are allowed! We will have doggie stations on the base camp and at each rest stop with water.  Please keep your dog on a leash and be sure to pick up after your dog.  Woof Gang Bakery has generously donated doggie treats as well that can be found at our base camp doggie stations.
  • No balloons are allowed
  • No smoking is allowed on the UT Health Science Center campus
  • There will be plenty of parking available on campus, at surrounding businesses and at the UHS garage, but we do still encourage carpooling if you can…remember to checkout our PARKING GUIDE!
  • Feel free to bring a blanket or stadium seats to make a picnic out of the event!
  • We will have an area on the baseball field where you are welcome to play catch if you bring your own mitts and baseballs.
  • We willl also have an area for pick-up volleyball matches and playing frisbee (JDRF providing volleyballs and frisbees).
  • As tradition goes, we will have our Team T-Shirt Contest again this year! You can find the fence back-stop over by the Food & Beverage tent labeled for FAMILY TEAMS and CORPORATE TEAMS. Judges will choose first, second and third place winners for both FAMILY and CORPORATE teams. We are so excited to see your designs for this year!
  • We have come up with a new way to show the many connections to T1D that bring people out to our event with what we like to call WALK BEADS. You can get your Walk Beads at Walk Central to show why you are participating:
    • BLUE = you have T1D
    • GOLD = parent
    • PURPLE = spouse
    • ORANGE = sibling
    • RED = grand-parent
    • GREEN = relative
    • SILVER = friend

AWARDS

We are so proud of all of you for your fundraising efforts! It is important to us to show you our gratitude for your hard work. We are excited that Team Awards and Golden Sneaker Awards will be given out at the event this year – where we can recognize our fundraisers in front of thousands of people in the San Antonio community!

The fundraising deadline for these awards ended today, but you can still turn in money on October 19 at Registration and that will count towards your individual prize incentive. We will announce Team Awards on stage for those teams who raise $2,500 or more and we will also recognize  Golden Sneaker Awards on stage to those individuals that raise $1,000 or more. Awards for Teams that raise $100-$2,499 will be available for pick-up at Walk Central. No matter your level, we are beyond thankful for how everyone has pulled together this year to do what they can for T1D research!

Please note that the deadline for personal prize incentives is not until December 1. Still plenty of time to raise money for JDRF! Click here to see those prizes you can win for your fundraising.

BE THE CHANGE

We are looking forward to a new fundraising component of our Walk & Run this year called “Be The Change”. There will be collection containers for change (and dollars) at Walk Central, Registration, and a large collection container on stage where we will empty all the earnings to see how much change we can make in one day!
