JDRF Los Angeles Chapter’s Imagine Gala continues to be one of Los Angeles’ premier fundraising galas,  bringing together corporate executives and high profile attendees with the goal of educating others on what it is like to live with T1D and to support life-saving research to cure, treat, and prevent T1D.

Thanks to the generous support of committee members, corporate sponsors and more than 400 guests, the Imagine Gala raised over $1.2 million dollars to support essential and live-saving T1D research.

This year’s Gala was led by outstanding honorees, Marc and Robyn Sidoti.  When their daughter was diagnosed in 2016, Marc and Robyn decided to make it their mission to help eradicate T1D.  Marc is a board member of the JDRF LA Chapter and Robyn is a member of the Imagine Gala committee.  Upon accepting their honoree award, Robyn graciously thanked everyone for supporting a mission that means so much to her family:

“I’m just a mom. A mom who will do whatever it takes to make sure that my daughter has a successful future. To look down at all of your beautiful faces, some of you I know, some of you I don’t know, but at this moment, you all mean everything to me. This is what a cure looks like.”

One of the many highlights of the evening was JDRF’s signature call to action – Fund A Cure.  Fund a Cure gives donors the opportunity to make a donation in any increment with 100% of the donation supporting the vital mission of JDRF – funding essential T1D research.  The program was kicked off by two outstanding gifts: one for $200,000 made by JDRF International Board Member, Angie Platt and her husband Jon Platt, and another of $100,000 by long-standing JDRF supporter, Ben Leeds.  So far, Fund A Cure raised an incredible $660,422!

The night concluded with an exhilarating performance by Harry Connick, Jr. and his jazz ensemble. In an exciting turn of events, he asked children in the audience with T1D to join him on stage where together they sang an upbeat and soulful version of “You Are My Sunshine.”
