Earlier this summer JDRF Houston Gulf Coast Chapter invited individuals with type 1 diabetes to create something highlighting what it means to be a T1D Champion in artistic form and submit their creations with us. We would like to share three very special people and their works of art with you now.

Please meet, Anna Grace (bottom left), 11 years old diagnosed in September of 2018. Anna Grace drew a comic book super heroine, ā€œDiabetes Girlā€, channeling her strengths and will-power from her daily T1D management. We love that blue and awesome smile. Anna Grace said, ā€œDiabetes wonā€™t stop me from living life to the fullest extent.ā€ We at JDRF couldnā€™t agree more!

Eight year old, Jackson (top middle), diagnosed in January of 2019 built something very special. From trophies, to toilet paper thereā€™s even a Rufus he thought of during this time of social-distancing. Be sure to zoom in to see the fantastic detail he put into his T1D Champion Lego masterpiece! When asked what heā€™d like to share with everyone Jackson said, “If you don’t follow your dreams, regret follows”. Wise beyond your years, Jackson!

Amanda (bottom right) was diagnosed in September 2018. When Amanda shared her talent and painting ability on her pods we were blown away at her creativity! And at just 14 years old, Amanda shows off her talents embellishing her pods and letting her personality and humor shine through. Amanda shared, ā€œI like to decorate my pods to lighten the weight of diabetesā€. Powerful stuff, Amanda!

We hope you enjoy these masterpieces as much as we do and canā€™t wait to see what else is in store for these creative minds!
