Jay and Babs’ primary connection to JDRF is their 13-year-old granddaughter, Parker, who was diagnosed with T1D at age 4. They are very involved managing Parker’s care and equally involved in many capacities with JDRF first in Austin and now in Houston and the newly established Southern Texas chapter. One of their most important commitments is to “Grandparents of T1D Kids”, a group they started several years ago to provide mentoring and emotional support and a forum to share experiences and learn where to become better caregivers.
