In the best interest of mitigating risk to the T1D community, we are shifting our Walk this year to an online experience and we hope you will join us for an action-packed day of fun… and fundraising! JDRF Virtual Walk Schedule

EARLY BIRD CHALLENGE – 7-9 AM
Rise and shine! Kick off virtual walk day with an early start, and fundraise for your team in the morning hours. For every donation your team receives during the Early Bird Challenge, you will receive one entry to win a $500 fundraising boost for your team! Plus, the top 5 individuals will receive a JDRF swag bag.

OPENING CEREMONY – 9 AM
Tune in to Facebook for our opening ceremony where emcee Kyle Inskeep from Local 12 kicks of the Virtual Walk and recognizes the top walk teams and individual fundraisers and the national anthem is sung by Livvy Stubenrauch, who voices young Anna in both Frozen and the sequel.

ZUMBA WARM UP  – 9:15-9:30 AM
Throw on your workout clothes and join us on Facebook for a virtual Zumba warmup routine with Katie Stewart! As a special bonus, those who comment on Facebook to share photos or video of them Zumba’ing along will receive a $50 contribution to their fundraising, courtesy of title sponsor Clopay!

NEIGHBORHOOD WALK – 9:30-10:30 AM
While we would of course prefer to be doing our typical walk through Kings Island, we have to improvise this year, so we’re asking everyone to spend this time in the morning to get out and take a walk in their neighborhood. And while you do it, don’t forget to rep your favorite JDRF gear! Tag us on social media and use hashtag #bestvirtualwalkever, and we will draw one winner who participated in the neighborhood walk to win a Kings Island season pass for 2021.

TEAM T-SHIRT COMPETITION – 10:30-11:00 AM
Check out all of the fun and creative team T-shirt designs as we host a virtual T-shirt competition. Be sure to be ready to vote from 10:30-11am for your favorite design! We’ll announce the winner at the Drive to Cure event. (Submit your T-shirt design by May 27 using this link to be included in the contest)

LUNCHTIME CHALLENGE – 11-2 PM
It’s once again time to focus on fundraising! During the lunch challenge, every donation your team receives will earn you one entry to potentially win a $500 fundraising boost! Plus, the top 10 fundraisers during the Lunchtime Challenge will receive a JDRF lunch bag.

ROAD TO A CURE – 2-3 PM
Hear from chapter Research Information Volunteer John Lyons as he provides an interactive, live Zoom presentation on the latest in the JDRF mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. No special app is needed to participate in this discussion, which includes beta cell encapsulation and other cure therapies, as well as what’s coming next with T1D technology. DRIVE TO CURE – 4-5 PM
Join us IN PERSON for a socially distanced in-person gathering at the Starlite Drive-in in Amelia. We have an amazing program ready, where we will have lots of fun, celebrate our amazing walk participants, enjoy live music and games, and receive some JDRF goodies. You won’t want to miss this, so be sure to RSVP online here. The event will also be streamed live on Facebook for those who cannot attend in person. There is no cost to attend. FINAL FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE – 5-8 PM
Let’s finish the day strong, and close out the virtual walk with a HUGE push for fundraising. With the impact of the coronavirus crisis, our fundraising will be down by nearly 50% this year, so we need to do whatever it takes to keep pushing for research dollars for JDRF. During this final segment of the day, every donation your team receives gives you one entry to win a $1,000 fundraising boost!

CLOSING CEREMONY – 8 PM
