Registration is open for the JDRF Tampa Bay TypeOneNation Summit!
Join us for our annual educational summit that brings together all within the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community. TypeOneNation is a day of education where you can talk to experts about research advances, meet with other attendees to exchange ideas, and participate in discussions important to you. Educational sessions will be focused on T1D care and management and will be geared toward different audiences.
This unique event will offer a day of outreach and education for our local type one diabetes (T1D) community and will include an amazing lineup of keynote speakers and breakout session facilitators including:
- Keynote Speakers – Anastasia Albanese-O’Neill, clinical assistant professor and director of diabetes education and clinic operations in the University of Florida, College of Medicine, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and April Blackwell, Aerospace Engineer and T1D who flies the International Space Station from NASA Mission Control
- Research Update
- Breakout sessions on New and Emerging T1D Technologies, T1D in School – Knowing Your Rights, Adulting with T1D Panel Discussion, Mental Food For Thought-Living Your Best Life with T1D, Improving Communication and Reducing Diabetes Related Family Conflict, The Basics of Living With and Caring for T1D!

Special guests include psychologist with St. Lukes Health Services in Twin Falls, Idaho certified in parent-child interaction therapy, Dr. Brian Olsen, the USF Diabetes Center team including clinical director, Dr. Henry Rodriguez, CDE and pump specialist, Janet Rodriguez, nutritionist, Janie Norman and social worker, John Rutledge, certified American Diabetes Association school advocate, Janelle Haas, founder of Homeschool U Consulting, Karlyn Sullivan, registered dietitian, certified strength and conditioning specialist, author and T1D, Ben Tzeel and health and exercise expert and motivational speaker with T1D, Chris Ruden!
We hope you will join us for this great day of educational and inspirational activities to help you and your loved ones better manage life with T1D. Leading experts in research, technology, nutrition, and personal well-being will join JDRF to present updates and practical information to the local T1D community. This event is free to adults and children 5 and older however registration is required.
