2018 TypeOneNation Summit Recap

This past Saturday, February 10th, our chapter was lucky to be able to host another TypeOneNation Summit at the Andrews Conference Center at WakeMed. With around 125 attendees, it was a wonderful and busy day for everyone involved! Our keynote address was given by Patrick McFeeley, a father of two Type 1 daughters and JDRF International Board of Directors member. We were joined again this year by Gary Scheiner, author of Think Like a Pancreas, who led breakout sessions on Exercising with T1D and Technology and T1D. Jenn Fleischer, a certified diabetes educator and health and wellness coach, came from Nashville to lead several sessions related to emotional health and managing the literal and figurative ups and downs of Type 1. In total, we were able to host twelve different breakout sessions or panel discussions throughout the day because of the support of doctors, parents, teachers, and fellow T1Ds who offered to speak and share their stories.

JDRF owes a big thank you to both WakeMed for allowing us to use the Andrews Conference Center for this event and Jersey Mikeā€™s for providing lunch to all our attendees and volunteers. TypeOneNation Summit would not be possible without the support of all our sponsors ā€“ Lilly Diabetes, BD, Novo Nordisk, Dexcom, Medtronic, and Insulet.

We hope to see everyone back next year!
