Meet Max Selmser, JDRF’s 2019 Children’s Congress Delegate!

Max’s journey with JDRF started shortly after he was diagnosed at age six. Seven years later, Max and his parents are involved with many of our programs and events. He is a Youth Ambassador and also meets with newly diagnosed families to let them know they are not alone. Because of his efforts, Congressman John Katko recognized Max with a Congressional Record. What is Children’s Congress?

Every two years, more than 160 children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) between the ages of 4 – 17 gather in Washington, D.C., to meet face-to-face with some of the top decision-makers in the U.S. Government. The selected Delegates represent all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as JDRF’s six International Affiliates. As participants in JDRF Children’s Congress, Delegates have a unique and empowering opportunity to help Members of Congress understand what life with T1D is like, while forming lasting bonds with other kids from around the country who live with this autoimmune disease.

Congratulations again to Max!
