June 2020 Newsletter

What a year 2020 has shaped up to be! When we learned we were transitioning to a virtual Walk, we felt saddened, though it was very necessary to protect us all. We were saddened because we know how much Walk Day means to all of you and that you look forward to it. It’s our largest event and an opportunity for thousands of us to come together, celebrate achievements together, celebrate your dedication and commitment to raising funds for a purpose near and dear to each of our hearts – to continue doing all we can as a community, to fight T1D and find a cure!

When Walk Day arrived, each of you, your family & friends created your own special walks and we enjoyed seeing your all pictures and videos – thank you for sharing them with us! Though our team could not be there with you – we were there in spirit. To see all the wonderful things that took place on Walk day, take-a-look at our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/JDRFWNY We still have fun things coming, like Kids Bingo and more videos!

We appreciate your fundraising outreach, your participation in the activities and contests and continued support. Also, thank you again to our sponsors for partnering with us on our first Virtual Walk! We are grateful for your commitment as a community supporter towards the JDRF mission.

The JDRF Western New York Chapter, Board of Directors, has created a Post Walk Fundraising Challenge. From June 29th – July 3rd, every dollar you raise will be matched up to $2,000. This is a great opportunity to increase your team and individual totals. Your donation will allow us to continue funding essential research, meet our grant commitments in FY20, and make strategic research funding decisions that impact FY21 and beyond. We know that many of you have been busy with remote working from home challenges, and end of school work for your children, so if you haven’t had a chance to make a donation yet, you can still help! Please go to www.walk.jdrf.org/Buffalo  and make your donation to your favorite walk team before July 10th.

Please note, all matches, along with the prior The RTA Store & WillowLane Cabinetry Match Blast Challenge are accounted for in your team totals. While we cannot manually add them to each team thermometer, team captains will receive final team totals at the close of the fiscal year and it will be posted for all to see your team’s hard work. Your individual matched totals will be credited towards your Walk prize levels, also to be released in July. Thank you for understanding & working through this with us.

Have donations to drop off before the fiscal year closes? We will have two donation drop-off days at our office (331 Alberta Drive, Suite 106). Stop by, say hello, tell us about your Walk day & drop off team donations:

Tuesday, June 30th between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm

Wednesday, July 1st between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm
