National Volunteer Week Spotlight: The Venero Family

in , ,

As National Volunteer Week continues, we’d like to recognize The Venero Family! The Venero’s support, connect, and empower the T1D community by volunteering in many different ways. In the words of our Development Coordinator, Marianna, “They have helped tremendously with our community engagement efforts in Upstate New York, and they never hesitate to help our a T1D family in need of support!”
Ā
Heidi Venero was previously an Outreach Volunteer and is now our Outreach Ambassador Chair. Heidi also helps run our Monthly Family Zoom Meetings on the first Wednesday night of every month!
Ā
Nick Venero is also an Outreach Ambassador, helping to welcome every newly diagnosed adult or parent/caregiver of a newly diagnosed child to our type 1 diabetes (T1D) community.
Ā
Their son Nicholas Venero is a #T1DWarrior, and this July, he will be heading to Washington, D.C. with our Children’s Congress to represent the Upstate New York Chapter! Nicholas and the other Delegates will meet with our nation’s leaders to advocate for insulin affordability and funding for important programs like the Special Diabetes Program (SDP).
Ā
Thank you to the Venero Family for their commitment to our T1D community and our mission! To learn more about National Volunteer Week and how you can get involved and volunteer with JDRF, head to https://www.jdrf.org/national-volunteer-week-2023/
